Today, being able to write in a way that holds people's attention is incredibly valuable. If you can build an audience of people who enjoy reading what you write, a good number of them will eventually become your customers.
When your writing lands in front of your reader you’re competing with every distraction under the sun.

So what you can do is attach your message to a story or anecdote. You can make the opening like being dropped into a little movie – so that reading your copy becomes the most interesting option available right at that moment.
I’ve spent 15 years working in the media and – in my experience – most writers never grasp how hard it is to get their writing read.
Most writers will never use the methods you’re about to learn in this book. You see, writing is long-range warfare. You launch your missiles from 100 miles out at sea, and you never get to really see the impact you make on the recipient.
Most writers prefer it this way. They write their copy and lob it into the world without watching to see how big the crater is – or whether it lands at all. They get paid all the same.

I'm only giving this a 4 because of all the typos in it (and I'm not just talking about British spelling). A book telling people how to be better writers should be properly proofread prior to publishing. (How'd you like that alliteration?)It does, however, contain good advice for writers of any genre.

I'm the owner of a growing business and a single parent of two daughters with all the related sports, friends, activities, etc. So time is at a premium to say the least. When I get a recommendation to read a book, it usually takes a while before I'll invest the time. When I hear it from different sources, I'm much more likely to read it...so I did, and I'm so glad that I did.
It's a brilliant, easily understandable book, and not 500 pages of repeating things over and over like some business books can be. The writer "eats his own cooking" and hooks you from start to finish by doing exactly what he teaches the reader to do. Love that.
There's plenty of more in-depth details already in reviews here, so I won't restate all of that. I'll just finish as I started, and that is...should you take your valuable time to read it? Yes, unequivocally. Reading a book takes time, but I get a benefit out of that. Leaving a review doesn't benefit me in any way, and I haven't reviewed a book on in quite a long time. I hope that the fact that I felt it important to review this one pushes you over the edge and you'll read this one.
This book is written for business people, which I am not. As a professional communicator, however, I found it riveting.
This book has many great examples and step-by-step advice you can go use, today.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of formatting issues causing entire sections of the book to be unreadable.

From page one Ian Harris will have you hooked on knowing more. Why? Quite simply there are relevant ideas you can use today to improve your writing on each and every page. No fluff or extra padding, just a straight to it writing style packed with rich usable information.
What a fun read. Even if you don't like reading, this short book will keep you entertained and give you lots of ideas of how to make your marketing better.
Good advise for people in the business world or for those making presentations, speaking to an audience, creating more compelling email messages, etc.
Even though I'm not a public speaker, nor have an advice-giving blog, the information in this book was new to me and quite valuable. I'm going to used many of the techniques in this book with my own writing.
